Does your school or volunteer fire department need a great safety program? We can Help! SEC has qualified personnel available to come and put on a first class program. Our school program “The Shocking Truth” is geared for 5th and 6th grade students. A regular class-time hour is all we need to demonstrate to each student the importance of electrical safety. Each quarter, SEC will offer, to a select number of area Volunteer Fire Departments, the opportunity to host a safety meeting. “Firefighters & Electricity” will be presented on location or be made available at SEC’s demonstration room. For more information, contact Member Services.

RVFD Safety Program

Safety Program & Financial Assistance

This program allows Volunteer Fire Departments (VFDs) in Southeastern Electric Cooperative’s (SEC’s) service area to be provided a Safety Program and Financial Assistance. Once a quarter, a select number of VFDs will be offered the opportunity to host (as a group) an SEC approved safety program. For the VFDs who do not have a hosting facility, the Demonstration room at SEC will be made available. Upon the completion of the safety program, a check in the amount of $200.00 will be presented to each qualifying VFD.

POLICY & PROCEDURE:

A qualifying VFD will be defined as a county organization that is recognized by the State and receives funds from the State (or Federal Government) for the purposes of rural fire fighting and public safety assistance, and is located in SEC’s service area. For the purpose of this program, SEC will further stipulate that an active Fire Chief or an Assistant Fire Chief be in place.

Upon proposed meeting arrangements (date, place and time), of no more than five (5) VFDs per quarter, each VFD’s Chief or Assistant Chief will be identified as the point of contact. Each organization will be expected to be represented by the Chief or Assistant Chief and at least two (2) other firefighters to be eligible for the financial assistance. At the conclusion of the said meeting, a check will be awarded to the Chief or Assistant Chief, in the amount of $200.00, on behalf of their organization.

Prior to the VFD quarterly safety meeting(s), the Director of Member Services will provide all documents necessary to the General Manager for funding approval. Upon approved funding, Accounting will be directed to process the checks.
