| Grandparents, farmers, Main Street
business owners, Sunday School teachers...they are all part of our
co-op. Southeastern Electric Cooperative is owned and operated by the
community it serves. That's why we are committed to reinvesting in
the community -- it's our home! Always has been. Always will be. |
Commitment to Community has always been a top priority at SEC. This is evidenced by our numerous ongoing school and community projects:
- SEC distributes over 13,000 ribbons each year to approximately 21 area schools for the annual “Red Ribbon Week", drug prevention program. The ribbons read: “The Choice For Me – Drug Free”.
- The “Shocking Truth about Electricity” safety program is available to 5th and 6th grade students. It includes a video on electrical safety, and a demonstration on the danger of electricity when mis-used or mis-handled.
- SEC is a proud supporter of county athletics. The Bryan County Basketball Tournament; the Coleman Wildcat Classic; and the Tushka Invitational Basketball Tournament are all co-sponsored by Southeastern Electric.
- The availability of Higher Education is important to any community. SEC annually supports Southeastern Oklahoma State University, providing monetary assistance for scholarships given through the university's "Foundation" trust.
- SEC employees volunteer to assist with the local and state Special Olympics. SEC provides medallions for each participant at the regional “Winter Music and Art Festival” in Durant. Employees also travel to Stillwater each year to assist with the State Special Olympics event.
- Each year, SEC gladly provides monetary assistance to area's county Junior Livestock fairs.
- Donations and safety presentations are provided through SEC for area rural fire departments.
- Employees donate money, time and talent to local area events and fundraisers, such as “American Cancer Society’s, Relay for Life”, “Bryan County Ag Expo”, and area “Jr Livestock” shows.
